Larch Wood's workshop is situated along the banks of the Margaree River near Cabot Trail, on Cape Breton island, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Larch Wood works exclusively with native Eastern Canadian Larch trees which are also known as the Tamarack or Juniper. Traditionally used in boat building and for other exterior applications such as decking and fencing, Larch is noted for its rot resistance, strength, and its ability to neutralize bacteria. In short, Larch has all the characteristics needed to produce a superior cutting surface.
A bold hand-matched end-grain pattern and naturally attractive coloring combines with the renowned durability to allow the production of unique, beautiful, and extremely durable Cutting Boards.
