Slate is a metamorphic rock formed 500 million years ago during the Mississippian and Pennsylvanian periods in the late Paleozoic Era. Because slate is a natural product of the earth, features in the rock and color variations occur.  These variations enhance the natural beauty and unique character of your sign.

Our Slate plaques are hand-cut to size and are are designed to be wall-mounted.  Some come with leather hanging straps which can be removed for direct mounting - see details on individual ordering pages. Deeply carved lettering is painted with durable enamels, contrasting with the slate. Note that "green" slate varies from grey-green to green. Most plaques available in 2 sizes and 4 colors.
