Noted for its light weight and dimensional stability, Western Red Cedar will give decades of trouble-free service and will lend a natural sense of character and distinction to your home. Western Red Cedar is one of the few woods with its own preservative oils. However, the cedar is free of pitch and resin so you won’t have any residue on your mail.
Western Cedar is excellent for a wide variety of finishes, from stains to paints. Even if you prefer the natural color, we recommend you maintain your mailbox with a clear finish. Western Cedar mailboxes last an exceptionally long time with the aid of a clear finish, stain or paint.
