Western Red Cedar used exclusively for these mailboxes and posts.  Noted for its light weight and dimensional stability, Western Red Cedar will give decades of trouble free service and will give your home a character and distinction that other products cannot match.  Western Red Cedar is one of the few woods with its own preservative oils. Free of pitch and resin it provides an excellent base to accept wide variety of finishes, from stains to paints. We reccommend you keep your mailbox stained or painted for added beauty and longevity as it will last for an exceptionally long time with the aid of a stain or paint.

Posts are 4" x 4" and 79" long ± 1".
They can be buried in the ground or put into freshly poured concrete.
Mailbox cross beam supports are 18" deep on the mailbox side.
Check with your local post office for the approved height for the mailbox bottom - usually 41" to 44" from the street.
Set your post height accordingly.
